BRUSSEL DECLARATION

Municipality of Edirne is winner of Turkey EDEN 2008 with Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling Project. Thus, Municipality of Edirne invited officially to European Tourism Days of  Open Days Programme in Brussel between the dates of 6-9 October 2008. Işılay Yıldırım(from EU and Relations Office) participated to this meeting as representative of the Municipality.

This event aim to explain to how created, existed and how to use the EU financial instruments of“Sustainable and Competitive Tourism Agenda of Europe” and to make easy spreading of the knowlegde about it.

With this aims, Commission organized an activity which continued all day with different topics in 6-9 October 2009 with the collaboration of DG REGIO and Commity of Regions.

EUROPEAN TOURISM DAYS had three main different topics.  European Funds is one of the main topics and it had presentations about the Opportunities of EU Funds for National Agencies, Local Authorities, etc…

Other main topic was the Network Opportunites in Tourism and it had two different topics. First of it was European Regional Network. And the second one was EDEN Project and EDEN Destinations Network.

After the last main topic, BRUSSEL DECLARATION was singed by 20 EDEN Destinations.

With this Declaration, EDEN Project has become an Action Plan. The winner destinations of 2007 and 2008 will be connect to each other by a web portal. and with the meetings which will be held by each destination, itwill be provided the sustainability of the Project.
