THE VISIT BY THE CONSUL GENERAL OF KOMOTİNİ

            Mustafa Sarnic,consul general of Komotini, visited the mayor of Edirne at his office.

            Mustafa Sarnic, consul general of Komotini said “I believe that Edirne has got a very important role for Greece. We live in the same region. My working period in Komotini is just 3 years. Our intention is to sustain the relations with Greece more actively as it was in the past, cooperating with various tasks such as border trade, integration of communities of both sides, getting to know each other’s and economic relations. I enjoyed my time a lot during my visit in Edirne. Edirne is a very beautiful city and one of the most attractive destinations in Turkey.  It is an exact modern European city with its historicity and nature. It is a great advantage of Edirne that the city is on the border to the Europe”, stating that the relations between Turkey and Greece mainly mean that the relations between Greece and Edirne.

            Hamdi Sedefci, the mayor of Edirne stated his best wishes to the consul general and said, “We have good relations and friendship with Greece. I believe that we built a bridge for friendship between two countries. I wish this friendship and brotherhood in our region will be a model for the whole world. We are looking at future with great wishes, taking lessons from the past. We agree on continuous friendship, brotherhood and cooperation in our region. We signed numbers of projects so far. This kind of relations can change people’s way of view and strengthen the friendship. I hope we would strengthen our relations more intensively together with your effort and we can show to the whole world that this region is a place of friendship and brotherhood. If there is a friendship and brotherhood fundamentally, everything is possible then. Trade is possible, socio-cultural activities are possible, too. We want friendship and brotherhood in our region but not war. If we all think and behave like that, in future we will have good and peaceful days”.

            Following the converation, The Mayor of Edirne presented a gift pack to the consul general of Komotini.
